Ok, well mixing Hip Hop, Hyphy, and Rock will be your first challenge. Assuming you have accomplish that, here are some steps you should take to start promoting yourself and your music:1. If you do not have access, or do not know how to record your own music you would be better off finding a local recording studio who will take your music and record and mix your vocals over top of it. It is important that you find a producer who will help you develop your skill, songwriting, breathe control, etc... Just search on the internet for recording studios and your city name.2. Once you have music recorded, set up a myspace page with your BEST music on it, make sure to spend quality time everyday adding people who have the same musical tastes. If someone adds you as a friend make sure you add them back and write to them saying "thanks for stopping by". This keeps things personal, and makes people feel like you care, and you actually listened to their music too! Also have some high quality pictures3. Begin to form collaborations with people on the internet, and in hip hop forums. These are the people who you will collaborate with and who will also spread your music by word of mouth. Having a strong network behind you is one of the most important aspects of establishing yourself musically on the internet.4. When your online presence is buzzing you need to set up some shows so you can perform live. People will not believe you are the real thing until they hear you perform live. This is also where you build your fanbase on the streets, and sell your CDs. Record labels will not listen to your music if you have no live experience or online presence.5. Once you have a solid fan base, and a good resume of shows under your belt you need to then start shopping your music to independent record labels who have major distribution. There is absolutely no point to send your music to the major record labels unless you have a top 40 sounding album with atleast 5 singles that have been downloaded 10's of thousands of times from the internet. My friend, everything you are asking takes a lot of time. There is no quick way to become famous, or easy way to get a record deal. I have been producing music for some very talented hip hop artists for the last 10 years. Very few people, even some of the most gifted, get record deals. Everything today is independent. Sell your own music, create your own network, and be an individual. If your goal is to get famous, that will be the last thing you accomplish. If you goal is make music that you enjoy, and to get as many people to hear it, then you will have a better chance of survival.I hope this helps shine some light on your questions.
