You need a scanner with its associated software installed on your computer. Good flatbed scanners are widely available for around $100 or less. Get a brand name. You also need a photo-editing program that can take the scanned picture and "fix" it if necessary - particularly convert it to the jpeg format, which compresses the original data. That makes the file smaller so that it can be easily posted to a website or sent via email. I would suggest IrfanView, a freeware program from
www.irfanview.com - it is a very popular download. The photo-editing program should "recognize" the scanner after installation. In IrfanView, for example, in the File menu, go first to Select TWAIN Source, and make sure your scanner is listed - and select it. Then, also in the File menu, go to Acquire, and the scanner software should appear on the monitor. Then just follow the directions to scan. The picture will appear in the photo-editing window. You can make any changes you want, then save the picture as a "jpg" file and keep track of the folder you put it in. After that, when you get into MySpace or other website, follow their directions for uploading your picture file. (You have to browse to locate it, of course.)
